How To Migrate Your Website To Hostingli Print

  • 0

If you have ever migrated a website to a new web server, you are aware of how difficult this may be. In my two decades of experience managing Internet-based enterprises, this has always been one of my least favourite tasks. As our staff has expertise shifting websites of various sizes to our platform, Hostingli strives to make this as simple as possible.

Free Migrations

If your existing web host uses cPanel (such as HostGator, BlueHost, or InMotion), we may migrate your cPanel accounts within the first 30 days of your account as long as the following conditions are met:

  • We're able to obtain a full cPanel backup from your current web host
  • The compressed cPanel move file is 8GB or less in size

Almost all cPanel web hosts let you to build a full cPanel backup file inside cPanel; however, if they deactivate this feature, you may need to contact their support staff to have it done for you. We are aware that BlueHost, for instance, bans this link inside cPanel, therefore you must contact a technician through live chat or the phone to make it and post it in your home directory. Some of the technicians may attempt to guide you through a file manager backup, however this is not the required file!

Hostingli Migration Service

If you have a cPanel account, use a web host without cPanel, or have cPanel accounts bigger than 8GB compressed, our support staff is available to make the procedure as straightforward as possible. Before beginning the process, our staff will analyse your request and provide you with a time estimate. The majority of migrations may be completed within an hour, with a maximum of two hours most of the time. If you would like a quote prior to joining up with us, please contact our sales team and they would be pleased to assist you.

Please note all migration fees are non-refundable as our time at Hostingli is very valuable.

Manually Migrate From cPanel

If you'd rather to make a manual cPanel migration you may do so. Logging into your former web host's cPanel and downloading a home directory backup is the simplest method to do this.

cPanel -> Backup -> Download a Home Directory Backup

This will compress your whole /home/ directory and save it to your PC as a.zip file. You may then restore it by logging into your Hostingli cPanel account:

cPanel -> Backup -> Restore a Home Directory Backup

If the .zip file is to large to restore through the browser, you will need to uncompress it on your computer and manually upload via FTP (using a program such as Filezilla).

If you have any mySQL databases you'd like to bring over, you need to also download them at your old web host:

cPanel -> Backup -> Download a MySQL Database Backup -> Click on the database

This will compress your database into a .sql.gz file and put it on your computer. You can then login to your Hostingli cPanel account and restore it:

cPanel -> Backup -> Restore a MySQL Database Backup

If the file is too big to recover through the browser, please transfer it to your /home directory and contact us for help. Additionally, cPanel provides the possibility to download email forwards and restore them similarly to a MySQL database.

We understand that migrations may be stressful, but rest assured that our support staff is there to assist you at every stage. If you have more queries, feel free to contact us! We appreciate your business and look forward to collaborating!
